Family Support Services
TTSR has provided supported parenting services to parents with cognitive limitations since 1986. Our goal as an agency is to provide ongoing instruction, support and resource connections so that participants can succeed in their role as parents and gain a true sense of self-reliance and confidence as they raise their children.
We work exclusively in family homes and communities. Our work is often extensive and the majority of families we support are referred to TTSR after they experience difficulties, and over half have had some kind of involvement with Child Protective Services (CPS).
It has become increasingly clear that many societal factors -- such as poverty, isolation, domestic violence, lack of resources, and the lack of natural supports -- have a powerful influence over the success of the families TTSR serves.

Parent Support Group
Involvement in TTSR's parent support group is a way that parents can connect with each other, develop informal support, and reduce isolation.
The group is parent directed, which promotes parent ownership and active involvement. Parents attend the group to discuss ways to advocate for themselves and their children, ways to create healthy relationships, how to run a workable household, and share the joys of parenting.
The first hour of the group, a planned topic is discussed and a guest speaker may be invited. During the second hour, the parents discuss the issues going on in their lives and share information and resources.
